Fall is packed Full of GCARPSC Events

September Training Event

Dale Collins KC8ZXF will be hosting this month’s training, a refresher on NET Procedures. This will be on Tuesday September 23rd at 7:00PM at the Genesee County Administration Building basement Emergency Operations Center (EOC). There will be ample time to brainstorm and open floor discussions of challenges in your rig or shack. Come with ideas and questions!

ARRL Section SET / District 3 Packet Drill

The ARRL Michigan Section will be holding a Scheduled Emergency Test on Saturday October 4th between 8:00AM and 12:00PM. There will also be a District 3 Packet Drill that day as well. If you are interested in participating please contact District 3 DEC Joe Tuscher ().

October Tornado Siren Test

We are on pace to get all Siren’s covered twice by years end! We only have 2 more tests left so we need to really be sure to get everyone out this last 2 months. On Saturday, October 4th we will open the net at 12:00PM and the test begins at 1:00. If you are willing to travel within your community, NET control could assign you a local siren. October Family Potluck Picnic

After the drills and Siren Test we will be having a Family Potluck Picnic at the Kelly Lake Park in Burton on Lapeer Rd. west of Genesee Rd. This will be a relaxing time to meet our fellow HAM’s families and have a great lunch to celebrate the success of the year! We will meet at the park at 2:00PM and lunch will be served shortly after that time. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to pass though not required. GCRC Technician Classes

The Genesee County Radio Club is gearing up to begin they’re technician licensing classes. Class begins on Monday October 6th and will be held in Davison. For further information go to

October HAZMAT Training

Mt. Morris Fire Department Asst. Chief (and fellow HAM) Mike Vogt KD8BZZ will be hosting this year’s Hazardous Materials training. This is an extremely important class for field operators participating in ARES/RACES activations! This training will be held on Tuesday October 14th at 7:00 at the Genesee County Administration Building.
